What you’ll find in an ECFE Class!

ECFE Class1. Parent/Child Time – Parents and children experience a wide variety of learning opportunities planned by a licensed teacher that promotes a child’s growth and development and gives parents ideas to try at home.

2. Child Time – After parents leave for discussion, the children remain with an early childhood educator.

3. Separating Classes – Parents and a licensed parent educator share experiences, ideas and information. Parents move to a separate room for their time.

Philosophy
Saint Peter Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE) is a program for all families with children between the ages of birth to kindergarten entrance. ECFE is based on the idea that the family provides a child's first and most significant learning environment and partents are a child's first and most important teachers. ECFE works to strengthen families. ECFE's goal is to enhance the ability of all parents and other family members to provide the best possible environment for their child's learning and growth.

ECFE Classes

Babies
For children development stages birth to pre-walker. These are non-separating classes. *Children who have begun to walk should sign up for the Toddler's class.

You and your baby will enjoy a fun time of exploration focusing on large and small muscle development and sensory awareness. This class provides an opportunity for you and your baby to be in contact with other families to share ideas and ask questions about the fascinating changes your growing baby experiences.

We will sing songs, play games and do activities during this one-on-one time. You and your baby remain together for the entire class time.

Toddlers
For children who have begun to walk and are approximately 9 to 24 months in age. These are non-separating classes.

This class is designed to meet the needs of the active toddler always on the go and investigating everything in sight. We offer your child the freedom to enjoy a variety of action toys and games, art materials, and circle-time activities to stimulate language development, thinking skills and motor abilities.

Even though you and your child remain together for the entire class, you will have an opportunity to visit with other parents and share ideas and concerns on raising children.

Separating Classes
Three levels of separating classes are offered for children 20-36 months, 2-3 years, and 3-5 years in age.

These classes focus on listening skills, movement activities, communication skills and exploring the world around us through circle time, individual and group activities. Experiences are designed to be age appropriate and increase in skill level as your child progresses in development.

During the last half of the class, parents will meet in a room nearby to enjoy a cup of coffee and discuss parenting topics with a parent educator. Your child will continue fun activities and enjoy a snack with an early childhood specialist
