School Readiness
2008-09 Preschool Programs for 3, 4 and 5 year olds
Our Philosophy:
The St. Peter School Readiness Program reflects the School District’s goal to have every child ready for kindergarten. We invite parents and teachers to work together to nurture children as they develop self-understanding, positive social skills and build personal confidence. The St. Peter School Readiness Program is part of the St. Peter Public Schools. We are open to all children regardless of race, nationality, creed or gender; financial assistance is offered to all qualifying families.
Our Goals are to…
Provide an atmosphere that allows children to develop to their fullest potential. Encourage children to be respectful and courteous to others. Provide children with the time and opportunity to experiment, to think and to make decisions. The St. Peter School Readiness Program fosters social development, creativity, and emotional and physical well being in a caring environment designed to strengthen your child’s positive self-image. Our program is developmentally appropriate to the demands of early childhood and offers attention to the needs and differences of the individual children in the class.
Our Curriculum:
The Creative Curriculum helps “prepare your child for success in school - and in life. New research on the brain and on learning shows how important the early years are in a child’s learning and development. What happens in preschool matters.”
Together, at home and at school, we can help prepare your child to…
· get along with others
· do well in school
· become a good reader
· solve math problems
· speak and write well
· be creative
· make decisions
· develop physical skills
· have good study habits
· be self-confident and respectful
· enjoy learning
All classes are taught by licensed early childhood teachers.
School Readiness programs are sponsored by Community and Family Education, part of the
St. Peter Public Schools.
