Welcome to 6th Grade at North Elementary!

Welcome to what is going to be a Super school year!!  I am looking forward to meeting new faces and starting the year fresh.  Here is a little bit about "me" and I hope to get to know a little bit more about you as our year begins!

My childhood home is located in the small rural area of St. Thomas.  I attended St. Wenceslaus School and graduated from New Prague Public Schools.  After that I attended Minnesota State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education, and most recently graduated with a Master of Science in Teaching Reading.

I currently live in LeCenter with my husband who works for a large farming operation.  I have 3 children: Amanda 15, Bradley 13, and Caleb 9.  They attend TCU schools in LeCenter.  The kiddos keep me busy as I chauffeur them around to friends' houses and school activities.   I also enjoy reading, knitting, using technology in new and innovative ways, and spending time with my family.

We will do a lot of Whole Brain Learning in my classroom this year, which is a multi-sensory approach to teaching.  This approach reaches the modalities of speaking, listening, movement, and vision, and it may be different than your child has experienced in past years.  This approach helps all learners bring their strengths to the table, while learning to strengthen areas that may be weaker.  I think your child will love the opportunity to teach others, be a class leader, and build confidence in many areas.

Please fell free to contact me via email at eonken@stpeterschools.org or leave a message on my school voicemail 507-934-3260 (North).
