Welcome

My name is Joanne Smith. I have been teaching for over 21 years, 14 years in the St. Peter School District at the Hoffmann Learning Center teaching middle school students. I am originally from Pennsylvania and I moved to Minnesota when I was 15 years old. I attended St. Cloud State University and graduated in 1979 with a degree in special education. I started my teaching career in the St. Paul school district and moved to Le Sueur in 1986. After spending a few years working part time I was hired as the Early Childhood Family Education teacher in Le Sueur and then 2 years later came to St. Peter to work. I especially enjoy reading in my spare time, and I volunteer at my local library. I like bringing my love for books into my classroom and my students are exposed to many forms of reading materials throughout the school year.
