Welcome to room 214! My name is Mrs. Judy Olson, and I am one of five 5th grade teachers at North Intermediate School. I received my Bachelor of Science degree at Minnesota State University in Mankato in 1987. Then in 1996 I earned my Masters Degree and most recently I became a National Board Certified Teacher six years ago.
Our fifth grade team is departmentalized. This means I teach three sections of science while another teacher, Mrs. Lusty, instructs my students in reading, and Mr. Helget teaches math. This departmentalizing approach prepares students for middle school where they will have a different teacher for each subject. In the afternoon I teach more language arts to my own class. We have a busy and exciting curriculum in 5th grade. While the school day is filled with academics, we also focus on the importance of being respectful to others, establishing good work habits, and developing positive personal skills.
In my spare time I enjoy reading, baking, and enjoying the great outdoors!
My husband, Dr. Olson is the district superintendent. We have three grown children and nine wonderful grandchildren who all live in the area. We love spending time with our growing family!
