Spelling and Vocabulary Self-Help

Regardless of spelling abilities, all students should strive to improve spelling and vocabulary.

Seventh Grade: 

Students:  When the list is given out on Mondays, write the spelling words at least ten times.

Parents:  Quiz them on spelling words and begin using the week's spelling words in conversation so the meaning is also practiced.

 

Eighth Grade--Advanced

Students:  When the list is given out on Mondays, practice the spelling.  However, vocabulary is very important.  Use the sample sentences and a dictionary to master the definitions of the words.

Parents:  Quiz them on spelling, but also check their understanding of definitions.  They are tested on vocabulary as well as spelling.
