2008-09 is my 17th year as a special education teacher in St. Peter. Unbelievable--how the years pass by! The current school year will see a return to a Level III classroom, a program where students can focus on organization, relationship skills, behaviors, AND academics. Students participating in this program will have a highly structured day, mostly apart from their peers, with the focus on accountability. Each student has the opportunity to return to additional mainstream program as he/she achieves goals that are individually determined. I enjoy working in a program that challenges students to focus on positive change and reflection of who they are and what they can become.
I completed my Bachelor's Degree in psychology with a secondary major in elementary education at St. Louis University, St. Louis, Missouri in 1973. I taught in Chamberlain, SD for two years, worked in social services at Brown County(New Ulm) for two years. I completed my masters degree in speciaI education with certification in both learning disabilities and emotional and behavioral disability in 1980 at Mankato State. I taught special education in Grafton, Iowa for 15 years before coming to District 508 in 1992. I live with my husband in New Ulm with a basset and a terrier. I enjoy gardening, reading, biking, long walks, and many church and community activities.
