Ms. Josie Thulien, Science

Greetings!  My name is Josie Thulien (for those of you wondering, it's Thu-leen). I am in my fifth year of teaching 10th grade biology and environmental studies, an elective for 11th and 12th graders and my very first year teaching 8th grade Earth Science! While many of the 10th-12th grade students at SPHS know me as "Ms. Thulien", many of the 7th-9th grade students know me as "Coach T" because I spend my time in the fall as an assistant volleyball coach and am one of the junior high track coaches in the spring.

Luckily for me, the Saint Peter community is not new to me. After graduating from Saint James High School (yes, the OTHER Saints in our conference) in 2001, I attended Gustavus Adolphus College and graduated from there in 2005 with a Biology degree. While at GAC, I was a member of the track and field team and involved in Bison vocalization research under Jon Grinnell.  In August of 2005, I began working on my Master's degree at Minnesota State University, Mankato. I graduated in May of 2007 with a Masters of Arts in Teaching (MAT) - Life Science 5-12. It was good luck and a passion for students and learning that brought me to Saint Peter in 2007.

Currently, I live in Madelia, MN with the best roommates ever - my three cats: PJ (13, gray, male), Avery (8, white, male) and Butter (4, orange, female), my four birds (2 cockatiels and 2 finches) and two guinea pigs, G-Piggles and Noki. I also recently acquired a 4th cat, Misiu, but her picture isn't up yet. My dad, Jim, and his wife, Karen, still live in Saint James while my sister, Tessa, is a licensed counselor in Bloomington, IL.
