Course (s) Description:
There will be a variety of courses taught in our special education classroom. The following are the general guidelines that will be used in all classes.
Course Content & Requirements:
1. Assigned reading from the textbooks and related handouts. Assignments will be given on a daily and weekly basis.
2. Class lecture and discussion. All students will be expected to participate in all class
discussions.
3. Quizzes & Tests will be given throughout the semester and will be unannounced at times.
4. There will be chapter tests after each chapter plus a composite final exam.
5. Read all chapter summaries first then read the chapter.
Classroom Rules: BE ON TIME - PAY ATTENTION - WORK HARD
1. Sit in your assigned seats and be in your desk when the bell rings. Failure to do so will result in being marked tardy.
- Have books, paper, notebooks, pens, and pencils with you each day.
- All assignments must be complete and turned in on time.
- Treat classmates, teachers, and property with respect.
- Students are expected to work until the bell rings.
Consequences:
1. Verbal warning and possible movement to another seat.
2. Severely disruptive behavior will result in immediate dismissal from the classroom and a visit to the office.
Classroom Objectives:
1. Students will gain a greater appreciation of the subject matter and become more familiar with how these classes will impact their lives.
2. Students will be exposed to study skills that will help them in this class but others as well.
3. Provide practical information on how these courses can help in the student’s everyday life.
4. Create a classroom that stimulates learning but makes it fun at the same time.
Evaluation & Grading:
Grades will include all assigned work during the semester. All grades will be based on total points including tests, quizzes, class projects, and assignments and will follow the following grading scale: 90 - 100% = A, 80 - 89% = B, 70 - 79% = C, 60 – 69% = D, 59% and below = F
