Officer Tom Winsell

Hello,
You have reached Officer Tom Winsell's web page. I am the Saint Peter School Liaison Officer. I am very excited to start this new phase of my career and look forward to working with the staff and students.
A brief history about myself:
I graduated from Alexandria Technical College in 1997 with a degree in Law Enforcement. My first sworn position was in the small town of Dresser Wisconsin, where I was hired as the Chief of Police. This was a very rewarding position with a great chance to get to know a lot of people and learn the ins and outs of law enforcement.
After being Chief for three years I applied to the Polk County Sheriff's Department to work as a road deputy. Upon being hired with Polk County I worked the road and also had the opportunity to be on the Polk County SWAT Team. The Polk County Sheriff's Department was a very busy and rewarding agency to work for but my family was starting to grow with the birth of my daughter Madeline and my wife being pregnant I started looking around the Mankato, St. Peter area for employment. I wanted my wife, Kristina's, family to be more involved with my daughter and the new baby.
With my wife eight months pregnant, I applied for the Nicollet County Sheriff's Office and was hired as a road deputy. My daughter Maya was born one month later. I worked on the road for approximately 1.5 years and then applied for the St. Peter Police Department. We like St. Peter very much and I am planning on spending the rest of my career here.
Again, I am very excited to be back in the schools and look forward to working with the students, staff, and parents.
