Miss Walker and Mrs. Oachs

Miss Walker Mrs. Oachs
Welcome to Resource Room 226. My name is Anita Walker and I am a special education teacher. I received my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary and Special Education as well as my Master's Degree in Early Childhood Special Education from the University of Toledo in Ohio. I have been in the field since 1979 and have worked with children of many ages and disabilities. I have taught in Indiana, Ohio, Illinois and Oklahoma and am now happy to call Minnesota my home. I have been teaching at North Intermediate School since 2001.
Our resource room serves many purposes. Some students come to our room for small group instruction in Reading or Math. Some come to take a break, get some extra help on their work, or just to find a quiet place to work. With the help of Mrs. Oachs and other paraprofessionals, we also provide academic help to students in 3rd-6th grade classrooms, teach strategies to organize classwork, check assignment notebooks and consult with teachers to meet the needs of a variety of students. What a joy it is to spend every day watching children learn!
