Miss Walker
Miss Walker
My name is Anita Walker and I am a special education teacher. I received my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary and Special Education as well as my Master's Degree in Early Childhood Special Education from the University of Toledo in Ohio. I have been in the field since 1979 and have worked with children of many ages and disabilities. I have taught in Indiana, Ohio, Illinois and Oklahoma and am now happy to call Minnesota my home. I have been teaching at North Intermediate School since 2001.
This year (2011-12) I begin working as a Case Facilitator at North Intermediate School. As a Case Facilitator, I will not be teaching reading or math in the resource room, but I will continue to work with students on social skills and North Star behavior. In addition, I will be scheduling and attending all of the meetings for special education students. I will also be evaluating students who are new to our department and reevaluating students who have received services for 3 years or more. When I am not working with students, I will be communicating with parents, documenting test results, and writing reports. This will free up the other special education teachers at North to focus more on student needs and less on paperwork.
This is my 11th year at North Intermediate---a great place to make a difference for children!
