During the Kindergarten year it is our goal to have each student master these skills. Kindergarten Goals
General Information Skills:
*Knows name, address and phone number *Prints first and last name (first letter capital, the rest lower case) *Hold pencil and scissors correctly *Write letters from top to bottom *Know the days of the week *Recognize 10 basic colors and 10 basic shapes Reading and Writing Skills:
*Follows words from left to right, top to bottom, and page by page *Identify concepts of print: a letter, a word, a sentence *Recognize and name all upper-and lowercase letters of the alphabet *Write all upper- and lowercase letters from top to bottom *Recognize and produce rhyming words *Count, pronounce, blend, and segment syllables in spoken words *Isolate and pronounce the initial, medial vowel, and final sounds in 3 sound words *Capitalize the first word in a sentence and the pronoun I *Recognize and name end punctuation (period, question & exclamation marks) *Read the 20 word wall words (high frequency words) *Use sounds to blend and segment words Math Goals:
*Count by 1’s to 100 *Count by 5’s to 100 *Count by 10’s to 100 *Write and recognize numbers 1-31 *Count a set of given objects *Use objects to find the sums and differences of numbers between 0 and 10 *Count backwards from 20 *Sort objects using characteristics such as shape, color, and size *Create, and extend a pattern with given objects *Find a number that is 1 more or 1 less than a given number *Understand concepts of more than or less than *Use words to compare objects according to length, size, weight and position *Recognize and understand value of a penny, nickel, dime, and quarter *Tell time to the hour
