Julie Carlblom - Special Education Teacher

I graduated from Minnesota State University-Mankato in 1995 with a degree in Elementary Education.  In 1998, I graduated with a Master's Degree in Special Education Emotional and Behavior Disorders. In 2008, I earned a Certificate in Children's and Adolescent Mental Health from Bethel University. In 2015, I earned my certification and license in Autism Spectrum Disorders.

I have enjoyed working with many different groups of students while employed with St. Peter Schools.  I worked 4 years with middle/high school students at St. Peter Middle and High School.  I spent 8 years teaching in a self-contained High School CTSS classroom at Minnesota Valley Education District. I currently teach at South Elementary Early Learning Center and I have been there for 7 years.

Our family has lived in the St. Peter School District for 25 + years.  My husband and I have four adult children who have all graduated from St. Peter Schools; so I know first hand what a great school system we have here in St. Peter.  Our children have all reflected on what great teachers they had as they journeyed through the St. Peter Public Schools.  We have 6 grandchildren, 2 have graduated from St. Peter schools and 4 are currently enrolled in St. Peter Public Schools.

I focus my teaching on social skills and everyday life skills. Some of the curriculum I am using is "Zones of Regulation" and Michelle Garcia's curriculum on "SuperFlex and Social Town."
