I am a School Social Worker at North and South Elementary Schools. I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Social Work and a Master of Science degree in Counseling. I have completed the course work for a Marriage and Family Therapy License and I am completing the clinical supervision hours for this license. I have also completed the course work for a Play Therapy Certification and I am completing the clinical supervision hours for that also. I am licensed by the Minnesota Board of Social Work and the Minnesota State Department of Education. My position is partially funded by Nicollet County and I work as a liaison between the county and schools to help families access needed services.

Social Work Services
|
School Social Work is a specialized area of practice within the broad field of social work. In the school setting, the goal of school social work is to assist young people in accomplishing appropriate developmental tasks and identify conditions that interfere with the student's ability to connect with the educational system. A key function of my work is to assess what is happening in relations in the classroom, within the family, and between family and school and the places where interventions will be most effective.
Social Work practice in schools includes: assessment, crisis intervention, home visits, conflict resolution, individual and group counseling, consultation, and coordinating the delivery of educational and mental health services. School Social Workers actively address barriers within the child, home, school, and community that interfere with student success and achievement.
We feel privileged to be able to work with children and families at this early stage in the child's educational experience. To help children and families cope and gain a sense of competence is rewarding and has enriched our lives.
Feel free to contact us with questions or concerns anytime...Childhood is a journey, not a race.
