Principal's Welcome

In just a few short weeks we will be entering the last quarter of the school year. It’s been a powerful year of learning for all students and staff. I know we will finish the year even stronger! Thanks so much for your partnership in your student’s learning journey. We have a number of informational items and events going on over the next few weeks. Click here to watch a video version of this information from me, or read through the topics below.

Here are a few updates from around the school:

  • There are a few field trips impacting 3rd and 4th-grade students this week. On Tuesday, March 8, 4th-grade students will be traveling to the Saint Peter High School’s Performing Arts Center to listen to the 5th-grade band from 12:45-2:15 pm. The other field trip is an optional one for 3rd and 4th-grade students who pre-registered for the Young Writer and Artist Conference at Bethany College in Mankato. Registered students will leave North around 8:30 and return around 2:15 pm.
  • Stars Academy is the Monday and Thursday after-school program that takes place from 3:00 pm to 4:15 pm for students who have been invited to attend and registered by guardians. Please call the Title 1 office at 934-3260 x2017 if you have questions.
  • Arts and Academic Night will be held Thursday, March 10 from 5:00-6:30 pm at North. This is a great family gathering open to the public with students displaying science fair and interest projects in the gym, students performing and displaying their artwork in the music and art classrooms, and 20 students competing in a spelling bee on the gym stage. Pizza, water, and rootbeer floats will be for sale in the cafeteria. Make it a family night out!
  • Friday, March 11 is an early release day across the district. North students will be dismissed at 1:00 pm and buses will be 2 hours earlier than normal.
  • North’s Math-A-Thon is back and will take place on Monday, March 14. Students will be collecting pledges from family and friends as they are challenged to double the amount of math work they usually do each day. Donations will be used to purchase North Elementary T-shirts for all our students. Please return donations by March 16.
  • We have 14 buses that drop students off in the morning between the times of 7:45 and 8:00 each day. We also have 7 buses picking up students from 2:45 and 3:05 at the end of the day. Please avoid using the parking lot to drop off or pick up your student between these times as it's very congested. Other times of the day feel free to use the parking lot.
  • Please stay connected to the school by ensuring you have signed up for Infinite Campus Parent Portal and updated all your contact information. Without current information in our student information system, you will not receive important updates and messages from the school.

Our teachers will use the Seesaw Parent and Family app (you should have received this information from your student’s teacher) to communicate with your about classroom learning. I will also use it to make building-wide announcements. The app will also let you see what your student is learning!
