This spring, one of the biggest jobs our staff will be faced with is preparing class lists for next year. A great deal of thought goes into this lengthy process. Classroom teachers meet several times with school social workers, special education, physical education, music, art, and STEM teachers; as well as with Principal Doherty, to discuss the placement of students for the following year. Things that we know are very important to consider as we construct class lists include, but are not limited to:

~ A balance of boys and girls

~ A blend of all ability levels

~ Test data on student achievement

~ Careful consideration of student personalities and behaviors

~ A mixture of students from all classrooms

~ Placing students together who work well academically, but aren't necessarily friends.

We also realize that parents/guardians know their child's personality better than anyone, and we respect the fact that some parents may want to contribute their thoughts to the process. For this reason, we would like to give parents a chance to share emotional, intellectual, physical, and social information about their child with our teams as they prepare to balance learning experiences in classrooms. If parents choose, they may follow the steps below to provide input to the educational setting their child has.

1. Click here to complete the form and click the "SUBMIT" button once at the bottom of the page. This form is short and will describe your child and the type of learner he/she is.

2. Forms must be completed and submitted by the end of the school day (3:00) on April 29, 2022.

3. Please submit a separate form for each child. Only the online forms below will be accepted.

4. After these forms have been collected, teams will meet to begin the process of developing class lists for next year. Principal Doherty will work closely with teachers as these lists are developed.

As you can tell, a great deal of time and thought goes into the formation of class lists each year. We want you to know that all North Elementary teachers are highly qualified and exceptional teachers with whom you can put your trust. We thank you for your cooperation in this matter.

Please contact Principal Doherty if you have a specific concern regarding the placement of your child for the next school year.
