South Central Agri-Science Academy/FFA

The South Central Minnesota Agricultural Science Academy is named as such because, although located within Saint Peter High School, the courses are also offered to students enrolled in Cleveland, Saint Clair, LeSueur-Henderson, and Nicollet public schools. Many of the classes also have out of class lab components, making the academy unique compared to a traditional classroom.

The academy started in 2011 and offers the following courses -- Principles of Animal Science, Principles of Plant Science, Agricultural Business, University of Minnesota College in the Schools Intro to Animal Science, and Introduction to Agricultural Education.

Students enrolled in the program are encouraged to join our FFA program. The FFA is a national intercurricular student organization for those interested in agriculture and leadership. Membership can start in 8th grade and continue through college. Although the letters traditionally stood for Future Farmers of America, today we simply use the acronym.

The organization is open to any student any career interest. We focus on premeire leadership, personal growth, and career success. A few events that our members look forward to every year are: Ag Day with Kindergarten, attending the National FFA Convention, taking part in career development judging competitions, and helping with local service projects.
