Baby chicks at South

South Elementary School students have had the chance to watch baby chicks hatch in recent weeks thanks to special project taking place in Mrs. Wenner’s kindergarten classroom. This was made possible through the generosity of Peter Kennedy from rural St. Peter.

“I would like to thank local resident Peter Kennedy for providing its students with the extraordinary experience of witnessing the miracle of life,” Mrs. Wenner said. “I had one of “Farmer Peter's” grandchildren in my kindergarten class several years ago.  Peter has supplied my classroom with eggs, an incubator, and food to hatch chicks every year since then.

“It is such a wonderful experience for the whole school because we put the chicks in the hall for all students to visit. Ann Braun, who is a staff member at South, is Peter's sister and my partner in the hatching duties, and she helps coordinate this every year.”
