Saint Peter High School was well represented at the Section 2AA Visual Arts Tournament on April 22 at Chaska High School with 18 young artists from here competing at the event. SPHS’s visual arts program, led by Eva Hendrickson, was one of 20 schools represented at the Section 2AA Tourney.
Highlighting the SPHS contingent's results was junior Sada Harmes who earned a superior rating and Spotlight on the Arts Award in the painting category. Her placing earned her a trip to the Minnesota State High School League’s State Visual Arts Tournament on Saturday, May 10, at the Perpich Center for the Arts in Golden Valley. Harmes’ painting is entitled, “The Lights Are Off.”
The Saints had six students earn Superior ratings for the event, while eight received Excellence ratings, three were given Art Teacher’s Stand Out Honors, and one was named as an Honorable mention choice.
"I am proud of the expressive and technical skills of our SPHS students,” Hendrickson said. “It is an honor to be their teacher and to accompany them as they develop their creative voices."
