Voeltz's health class certification

Another group of second semester SPHS health students in Kris Voeltz’s class recently completed training to become certified in Teen Mental Health First Aid (tMHFA) USA. They received their training during health class under the tutelage of Anna Panning of the 2B Continued organization, who is a certified tMHFA instructor.

According to Mrs. Voeltz, with this final group's certification complete all of our 10th and 11th graders have had the opportunity to be trained!

Teen Mental Health First Aid (tMHFA) is an evidence-based curriculum from the National Council for Mental Wellbeing that teaches teens in grades 9-12 how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental health and substance use challenges in their friends and peers. The training gives teens the skills they need to have supportive conversations with their friends and emphasizes the importance of getting help from a responsible and trusted adult. The course consists of six 45 minute lessons.
