Parker Maloney

Saint Peter High School senior offensive lineman Parker Maloney was recently named as a participant in the Minnesota High School All-Star Football Game, which takes place at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 13, at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis. Parker will be a member of the South All-Star team.

The Minnesota Vikings and the Minnesota Football Coaches Association are proud to present the All-Star Game, which celebrates the best players in the state of Minnesota.

“I’m super excited for this opportunity to compete against other top football athletes, and even more excited that I get to represent the St. Peter football team and St. Peter community,” Maloney said. “A huge reason that I was able to be selected is because of who I was surrounded by during the season. Our team this season had such a high work ethic and great attitude that allowed us to play at our highest level. Our coaches are another big thank you, they are so supportive and helpful to everyone on our team and are also a credit to this selection as well as our success during the season.”

“As Parker prepares to play in the Minnesota All-Star Game, I couldn’t be more proud of him and what this opportunity represents,” Justin Helget, Saints’ head football coach, said. “Being one of only 88 athletes selected from across the state is an incredible accomplishment, but what stands out most to me is how Parker earned it. His dedication to the weight room, commitment to improving his speed and agility, and his ‘we not me’ mentality have set the tone for our entire program.

“Parker is the kind of player every coach hopes to have — hardworking, selfless, and driven to be the best version of himself every single day. What makes me even prouder is the person he is off the field — respectful, humble, and a true role model for our younger athletes. Parker’s selection is a well-deserved recognition of his effort, character, and leadership, and a moment that makes our entire Saint Peter football team proud of him.”

Maloney, a key member of the Saints’ 7-2 season this fall, will be the 18th Saints’ player since the game was first played in 1945 to participate in this event, and the first since Avery Bachman in 2016. (See the complete list of Saints’ participants below.)

Other area players on the South roster include Deron Russell (Waseca), Tyler Bicknase (Fairmont), Samuel McGill (Albert Lea), Trevor Sheldrup (Mankato West), and Braden Petzel (Mankato East). The South roster also includes highly-touted players such as Roman Voss of Jackson County Central, the state’s top-rated player who is committed to the University of Minnesota, as well as Pierce Petersohn of Triton, another highly-ranked player and a Penn State commit. Garrett Mueller of Stewartville is the South head coach.
