North Drive collection

North Elementary's Student Council recently teamed up with Partners for Affordable Housing to host a drive at school for much-needed items/supplies during the week of December 8-12 to benefit people in need at our local homeless shelter.

“This was such a fun and relevant project for Mrs. Weller and I to do with our student council kids,” Mandy Kennedy, North Elementary Student Council advisor, said. “We have had such high levels of success with our student council over the last few years that we are now ready to branch out in helping the community. We really want to thank the kids and their families for stepping up for this project. We only collected items for five days and we were able to load two vehicles to help our local shelter. I am super proud of our school!”

Trisha Anderson from Partners for Affordable Housing met with the North Student Council in early December to provide the students with more information on the drive. She shared the mission of Partners and how they serve local families in need. Partners has three shelters that they operate between St. Peter and Mankato.

All donations from this year’s drive went to our local St. Peter shelter to benefit our community. Here are some photos of the North Student Council members loading up the donations to be transported to the local homeless shelter.

Above and below are some photos of the North Student Council gathering up all of the donations for the recent drive, which were delivered to the local homeless shelter.
