After two previous delays, students and staff at South Elementary finally celebrated the end of second quarter and the beginning of the third quarter with a special musical event in the school’s music room on Tuesday, Feb. 3.
Will Bjorndal, a highly-popular Minnesota kids’ musician and naturalist, visited South to perform his “Will Sings Songs” program. The event was originally scheduled for Jan. 23, but had to be rescheduled twice – once due to the extremely cold weather and the other time because of illness. The program proved to be worth the wait as the high-energy performance entertained all three audiences in the music room.
According to his website, Will writes, records, and performs original music for kids with a focus on positivity, humor, and learning through curiosity. Many of my tunes are nature themed, and others are just plain fun. He strives to create music that is fun and engaging for kids as well as fun-loving adults!
He is a native of Austin, MN, and now lives in the Minneapolis area. Before becoming a full-time musican, he worked as an interpretive naturalist and bee researcher. In addition to Will Sings Songs, Will front an artsy fartsy band called Prairie Clamor.
Above and below are some photo highlights from one of the three Will Sings Songs sessions he performed at South!
