SPHS animal science class working with dogs.

Students in Jasmine Witty’s Animal Science class at Saint Peter High School had some special visitors on hand as several students brought in their dogs as part of an animal nutrition, focusing on essential nutrients and feed ingredients.

“Earlier this week on Tuesday, the students made dog treats, and we’ve also been learning about Body Condition Scoring (BCS).” Witty said. “It’s a great hands-on method to assess a pet’s body fat and muscle, so today, some students volunteered to bring in their family pets. This gave their classmates a chance to actually try the BCS process for themselves!”

Above and below are a few highlights from the dogs’ visit to the SPHS agri-science classroom on Thursday!
