Saint Peter Schools will be well represented at this weekend’s performance by the ACDA (American Choir Directors Association) of Minnesota’s 7th and 8th Grade Honor Choir at St. Michael-Albertville High School.
Saint Peter Middle and High School choir director Bri Bergstrom is directing the MN 7/8th SSA honor choir and the CTB honor choir will be directed by Jim Papoulis, a conductor based in New York City and one of Mrs. Bergstrom's favorite composers. Greta Gorman and Lucas Chambers are both 8th grade students at St. Peter Middle School that will be performing as well.
Bergstom, the two SPMS singers, and the rest of the MN 7th & 8th grade honor choir report to St. Michael/Albertville High School that morning for rehearsals, and they are then scheduled to perform in concert starting at 5:30 p.m. that evening.
“ACDA asked me last February if I would be the MN 7/8th grade Honor Choir director for the SSA choir this year and I am so incredibly honored,” Bergstrom said. “This year has been so overwhelming with MMEA performance, Educator of the Year award and now this; truly three of my career bucket list opportunities happened this year. I feel so incredibly grateful for everyone's support.
“This weekend I will be at St. Michael Albertville High School working with the SSA honor choir which includes one of my 8th graders, Greta Gorman, which will be so fun! I get to work with them all day on pieces that I selected last summer and then we perform in the evening. I am also so excited that Lucas will get to work with one of my all time favorite conductors/composers, I can not wait to meet Jim Papoulis. I am just so excited, I can't believe it's really happening!”
