SPMS 7th & 8th grade All State Choir reps

On Saturday, April 11th, Saint Peter Middle School/Saint Peter High School Choir Director Bri Bergstrom had the opportunity to conduct the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) 7th and 8th Grade State Soprano/Alto All State Honor Choir.

Two SPMS students, Greta Gorman and Lucas Chambers were also selected to be in the honor choirs, with Gorman in the Soprano/Alto Choir and Chambers in the Tenor/Bass Choir.

Students from all over Minnesota audition for the ACDA honor choirs each year, and selected individuals spend the following months learning and memorizing music for a day of rehearsals and a festival concert conducted by a guest conductor. It is an exciting time for musicians far and wide to come together to sing, learn, connect, and grow!

Bergstrom was asked to conduct the 7th and 8th Grade Soprano/Alto Choir back in February 2025, and knowing what an honor it would be, she immediately said yes. She got to select pieces for the choir to sing, and she worked with the middle schoolers all day, performing a concert in the evening at St. Michael/Albertville High School.

Bergstrom recently reflected on how incredibly talented her singers were: “From the first time the choir sang, it was clear that they were super prepared and that we were going to have a phenomenal day! The sound that those 7th and 8th grade singers made was unbelievable.”

Some of Bergstrom’s favorite parts of the day were singing two pieces that involved a string quartet, performing Defying Gravity, the stunning and powerful finale, and working with such talented, kind, and fun students.

“Conducting the ACDA Honor Choir has been a bucket list moment of mine, and I am so honored to have been selected for this amazing opportunity! I feel so incredibly grateful for everyone’s support.”
