Congrats to the Saints’ girls varsity track team for capturing first-place honors at the Section 2AA True Team meet, held here on Monday. The Saints amassed 450 team points, well ahead of runner-up Jordan, to claim the Section 2AA True Team girls' championship trophy for the second straight year.
St. Peter, which won seven of the 18 events at the section meet, now advances to the Minnesota State Class 2A True Team Meet at 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 16, at Eden Prairie High School. Winners for the Saints included the 4x400 relay (Vivian Hendrickson, Keira Friedrich, Macey Portner & Ella Dirks) and 4x800 relay (Mia Gazzola, Lucia Penner, Robin Hibscher & Dirks) teams, Keira Friedrich (800-meter & 1,600 meter runs), Lydia Fell (High Jump & 100 hurdles), and Lexi Ibanez (Long Jump).

The Saints’ boys team also had a strong showing with a fourth-place finish in the always-tough Section 2AA True Team field with two top-10 ranked teams in Belle Plaine and Jordan also in the field. Those two teams placed first and second, respectively, while Fairmont edged the Saints for third.
The Saints had two individual winners at the section true team meet with Alex Bur placing first in 3,200-meter run and Parker Maloney topping the field in the discus.
