Saint Peter Public Schools’ Native American Parent Advisory Committee hosted its annual End-of-The-Year Celebration and Feather Ceremony on Friday at Saint Peter High School’s Commons.
Three SPHS seniors were honored -- Brock Knife, Addy Maxfield, and Shayla Secatero. Each graduate was honored with a star quilt, and there were many family and friends on hand to witness the occasion. Among those also honored during the celebration were our eighth graders. Keynote speaker was Steven Tamayo with the Dakota Boys performing as the Drum Group for the celebration.
A Feather Ceremony is a tradition in Native American culture that honors a graduating high school student for their accomplishments and offers a blessing as they transition into the next phase of their life.
