SPHS Dog Show participants 2026

Students in Ms. Witty’s Animal Science Class at Saint Peter High School hosted their very own dog show during class on Thursday (May 28) and Friday (May 29) in the SPHS Multi-Activity Center.

(SHOWN ABOVE) These are the students from Ms. Witty's Animal Science class that participated in this year's Dog Show.

Each student was tasked with selecting a dog breed from the AKC website, and painting it to represent their breed. They also produced an infographic about their dog breed and were able to name it (for fun). Guest judges (Mr. Pehrson, Mrs. Sirianni, Mrs. Karlsrud, and Mrs. Sather) interviewed each student about their dog breed. The champion from each breed group was then entered into the ‘Best of Show’ round, where they had to answer harder questions.

Those aspects of the project that students were judged on were their creativity/thoughtfulness, breed painting accuracy, their knowledge on the breed, and their presentation skills, according to Witty. The following are the award winners:

Herding breed champion – Ramiro Alcantara Alvarez (Bearded Collie)
Terrier breed champion – Brock Guth (Parson Russell Terrier)
Sporting breed champion – Sadie Albrecht (German Wired-Haired Pointer)
Toy breed champion – Gandhi Jiminez Menjivar (Chihuahua)
Non-Sporting breed champion – Joe Dorow (Finnish Spitz)
Working breed champion – Addi Sanchez (Bernese Mountain Dog)
Hound breed champion – Tyler Krakow (Norwegian Elkhound)

Best in Show Winner – Sadie Albrecht
Reserve Champion – Gandhi Jiminez Menjivar
Honorable Mentions – Tyler Krakow & Addi Sanchez
