SPHS spring play 2024

Saint Peter High School’s theater department is putting on their annual spring play production at the Performing Arts Center, with a showing this year of “Marian, or The True Tale of Robin Hood”. It’s led by director Robbie Deering and assistant director Jen Maldonado, with the help from Scott Robinson’s construction/set crew.

The show will be at 7 p.m. on the following days: Thursday, May 2, Friday, May 3, and Saturday, May 4. Tickets are general admission and are now available for purchase at the following link → https://stpeterschools.hometownticketing.com/embed/all or they will also be available for purchase at the door for $10 each.

“The cast has had a fun time unpacking some of the scenes and funding nuance in their characters,” Robbie Deering said. “This show is a classic Robin Hood story with all of the recognizable characters. Prince John is harshly ruling over the people of Nottingham with only Robin Hood and the Merry Men to stick up for them. In this version, however, Robin Hood is not a real person and is instead Maid Marian in disguise.”

The cast and crew have been working tirelessly to provide an exquisite show for the community, be sure to get your tickets and attend this early May production!

According to the Concord Theatricals’ website, the synopsis for this show is as follows, “A hilarious new take on the classic tale. Robin Hood is (and has always been) Maid Marian in disguise, and leads a motley group of Merry Men (few of whom are actually men) against the greedy Prince John. As the poor get poorer and the rich get richer, who will stand for the vulnerable if not Robin? What is the cost of revealing your true self in a time of trouble? Modern concerns and romantic entanglements clash on the battlefield and on the ramparts of Nottingham Castle in this play about selfishness, selflessness, love deferred and the fight. Always the fight. The fight must go on.”
