Well-known children's fiction author Kate DeCamillo was the featured guest for a free public event at Saint Peter High School’s Performing Arts Center on Wednesday evening which drew a large audience. DiCamillo has published over 25 novels, including Because of Winn-Dixie, The Tiger Rising, The Tale of Despereaux, The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane, The Magician's Elephant, the Mercy Watson series, and Flora & Ulysses.

“An Evening with Kate DeCamillo” was a collaborative effort of the Saint Peter Public Library and Saint Peter Recreative and Leisure Services, and made possible by a grant from the Traverse des Sioux Library Cooperative, St. Peter Area Chamber Tourism Bureau, and the Friends of the Saint Peter Public Library. In addition to her discussion on her career as a writer and some of her works, she also hosted a free book signing.
