Saints postseason update

This week begins a busy stretch of postseason action over the next few weeks for the Saints’ fall sports teams.

The girls tennis team, which began Section 2AA play last week, continues this week with team play on Tuesday at Gustavus Adolphus College and then shifts gears into singles/doubles action two days later, also at Gustavus.

The Saints’ girls soccer team earned the #3 seed in the Section 2AA tourney and gets to open playoff action at home. If the girls win their playoff opener they would play on Thursday against either #2 Mankato West or #7 New Ulm.

The Saints’ boys soccer team was awarded the #2 seed in Section 2A and gets a home game to start the playoffs on Thursday evening and a win there would give them another home playoff game.

The Saints swimming & diving team will compete in the Section 1A True Team Meet on Saturday, which is a good tune up for the Section 1A Meet, which begins on November 9 in Rochester.

Below is a rundown of this week’s Saints’ postseason/playoff action:

The Saints’ volleyball team, fresh off a second-place finish at the 24-team Jimmy John’s Classic Tourney in Marshall, has three matches left in its regular season including the Big South Conference championship match on Tuesday, Oct. 18. The Section 2AAA Tournament begins after MEA weekend, and it’s looking promising for the Saints to host a playoff match!

Saints’ varsity football has two more weeks left in its regular season with the home finale this Friday vs. Tri-City United and a road game at Jackson County Central on Wednesday, Oct. 19. The Section 2AAAA Tourney gets underway on Tuesday, Oct. 25 and it looks like the Saints will play at either Willmar or Jordan to open the playoffs.

The Saints’ boys and girls cross country teams have a couple regular season meets left, including the Big South Conference meet at Fairmont on Tuesday, Oct. 18. The Section 2AA Cross Country Meet is set for Tuesday, Oct. 25 at Gale Woods Farm in Minnetrista.
