SPMS FIFTH-GRADE BAND DEMOS - Saint Peter High School and Middle School band director Dave Haugh is hosting band demonstration sessions this week for fifth-grade students interested in playing a musical instrument. Several SPHS band students were also on hand to share their band backgrounds and demonstrate some of the instruments for the prospective band students. 2025 SPPS STAFF RECOGNITION - Saint Peter Public Schools hosted its annual Staff Recognition Reception on Wednesday afternoon at the SPHS Commons. This is the event where school officials honor the Distinguished Service Award winners, those staff members retiring at the end of the school year, and those who have achieved 25 years of service. This year's honorees include: Distinguished Service Award: Dr. Jeff Olson (Saint Peter Interim Superintendent and long-time past SPPS administrator, teacher, and coach) and Nickl Rozsa (long-time North Elementary media center support, para, and kitchen support). Retirees: SPHS - Kris Glidden (PE/Health teacher), Kelly Jensen (SPHS social worker), George Schoenborn (Business Ed teacher), and Christa Herr (paraprofessional); North Elementary - Mike Keller (Custodian) and Nick Rozsa (Support staff); and South Elementary - Heidi Wenner (Kindergarten teacher), Ann Braun (paraprofessional), and Barb Franchino (paraprofessional). 25-years of Service - SPHS - Kurt Moelter (Math teacher); SPMS - Connie Brezina (Special Education); Early Childhood - Helen Hager (paraprofessional). SPHS/SPMS BAND CONCERT INFO - Saint Peter Middle School (grades 6-8) and Saint Peter High School (grades 9-12) bands will perform during their annual Spring Band Concert on Wednesday evening at the SPHS Performing Arts Center. The director for both concerts is Dave Haugh. The SPMS bands kick things off at 6 p.m. with the sixth graders followed by the seventh grade band, and the eighth graders will wrap up the middle school concert. The SPHS Spring Concert theme this year is "The Soul of Summer" and begins at 7:30 p.m. According to Haugh, the concert opens with the Jazz Band which will feature soul music. The Varsity Band (gr. 9-10) hits the PAC stage next, followed by the SPHS Concert Band (gr. 11-12) before the two bands combine for one piece in the finale. “The two concert bands are playing some more popular style music, including music from How to Train Your Dragon, and featuring music from the movie composer Hans Zimmer,” Haugh said.

ADAPTED BOWLING STATE QUALIFIER INFO - Good luck to the Minnesota River Strike Force adapted bowling team as they head to the Wow Zone in Mankato on Thursday morning to compete at the State Qualifying Tournament. Singles action gets underway at 10 a.m. while the doubles competition is slated for 1 p.m. Coaches for the team include Kris Voeltz and Keith Bense. SPHS GRAND MARCH & PROM SET FOR SATURDAY! Saint Peter High School seniors and juniors will don their finest attire this Saturday for the annual SPHS Grand March & Prom celebration. This year’s theme is “Written in the Stars,” and this year’s prom advisors are Dani Roehrkasse and Jodi Nixon. The Grand March begins at 4:30 p.m. in the SPHS Performing Arts Center with doors opening at 4 p.m. The Grand March is open to the public, and admission at the door is $5 per person (cash or card). Following the Grand March, SPHS prom attendees will then proceed into the commons area for the traditional dinner at 6:15 p.m., with the dance taking place from 8 to 11 p.m. at the Chankaska Creek Winery Events Center.

SPHS SPRING PLAY TICKET INFO - Tickets are on sale now for the Saint Peter High School spring play production of “The Play That Goes Wrong,” which hits the Performing Arts Center stage the weekend of May 1-3. Showtimes each night are 7 p.m. Please see the accompanying poster for more details, including a QR code for buying tickets, or they can also be purchased online at https://shorturl.at/dyLDl. Tickets will also be available to purchase at the PAC box office before each show. SPHS MOCK CRASH INFO - Just letting the public know that Saint Peter High School will host a Mock Crash demonstration at 11:50 a.m. tomorrow (Wednesday, April 23) at the high school's west parking lot. Saint Peter School Resource Officer Jon Hughes is organizing the event, and it will include several area law enforcement agencies and emergency personnel participating in the event. SPHS STUDENTS DEPART FOR SPANISH LANGUAGE CAMP - A group of Saint Peter High School students in grades 9-12 from Vero Castillo-Clark’s Spanish classes departed mid-morning on Thursday for the Bemidji area to participate in Concordia Language Village’s Spanish Language Immersion Camp over the weekend. Castillo-Clark and Christian Juantos, one of Saint Peter Public Schools' cultural liaisons, are the chaperones for the group. The camp is part of Concordia Language Villages’ language immersion programs for school groups. World Language teachers organize trips during the academic year for these three- and four-day programs. Village Field Trips are programs designed for school groups to experience language and culture immersion outside of the classroom.
